India vs New Zealand Highlights : How India survived a tough New Zealand Test to remain unbeaten

Virat Kohli anchored yet another complex chase for perfection after Mohammad Shami’s spirited five-wicket haul as India beat New Zealand by four wickets in the World Cup in Dharamsala on Sunday. It was their first win over the Black Caps in an ICC competition in 20 years. Shami (5/54) bowled to restrict New Zealand to 273  despite Daryl Mitchell’s brave 130 from 127 balls. Later, Kohli (95 off 104) sealed India’s chase with an almost flawless knock, sharing three crucial 50-run stands with opposing Shreyas Iyer (33), KL Rahul (27) and Ravindra Jadeja (39, not out) to lead his side home. . 48 shots.

A good start to the tournament. The job is half done. It is important to stay balanced. You shouldn’t think too far ahead. It is important to stay in the present moment. Shami grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He has  experience in these conditions and is a class player. At one point we were looking at 300 plus. Thank you back ballers. I enjoy my beating. Both have different personalities but we (she and Gill) compliment each other. Fortunately, we won. Not much to say. He (Kohli) has done that for us for so many years. He forced himself to complete the work. Kohli and Jadeja pulled us back when we lost a few runs in the middle. Fieldwork is something we pride ourselves on. The field was not clinical today. Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best fielders in the world. These things happen. We know that field work will decide many things in the future. We like to travel and play in different parts of the game.”

– Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after the win

“We played relatively well. We didn’t take full advantage of the last 10. We left a bit out. But congratulations to India. We didn’t get a double hit with the ball. Rachin and Mitchell had a wonderful partnership that took us to  the last ten. We have the perfect group. We want to be in these positions. Rach with the bat, Daryl with the 100. The bowlers did well. He played a wonderful innings. He controls their pace so that others beat around him. Just try to be proactive and focus a little on the matches. Another good bite from him. We have a few days off. We have a game of the day  here. We want to do good.”

– New Zealand skipper Tom Latham after the loss
