 The 16th Asian Cup started on Wednesday (August 30). In the first match of the tournament, Nepal faced hosts Pakistan. Babar Azam Pakistan Skipper won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan scored 342 in 50 overs by losing 6 wickets. In his favour, Babar Azam scored 151 and Iftikhar Ahmed scored an unsurpassed 109. In response, the Nepalese team collapsed for 104 runs.

 Pakistan  started the 2023 Asia Cup  with a win. In the first match of the tournament, Nepal was defeated  by 238 runs. Pakistan won the toss and scored 342 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. Captain Babar Azam scored 151 runs and Iftikhar Ahmed scored  109 runs. In response, the Nepal team was reduced to 104 runs in 23.4 overs. Pakistan have to play their next game against India on 2nd. In September, Nepal’s next match is against India on the 4th. in September  

First, Pakistan had a bad start. Fakhar Zaman was out after  14 runs and Imam Ul Haq was out after 5 runs.  Babar and Mohammad Rizwan then put on a partnership of 86  for the third wicket. Rizwan was run out as he scored 44 runs in 50 balls with  six fours. Agha Salman fell victim to Sandeep Lamichhane after  five runs. 

After that the storm of Babar and Iftikhar was seen in Multan. Babar made his ODI career in the 19th century. He was out after  151 runs from 131 balls with  14 fours and four sixes. Meanwhile, Iftikhar scored the first century of his ODI career off 67 balls. Iftikhar remained unbeaten as he scored 109 runs from 71 balls with the support of 11 fours and four sixes. Shadab remained unbeaten after taking four wickets. Sompal Kami took two places in Nepal. On the other hand, Karan KC and Lamichhane got one goal each. 

Pakistan’s fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf made Nepal’s top order in reply. The team  lost three places in 14 races. Kushal Bhurtel eight runs, Asif Sheikh five runs and captain Rohit Paudel returned to the pavilion without opening his account. Arif Sheikh and Sompal Kami shared a  partnership of 59 for the fourth wicket. Harris severed that partnership. He played with Arif Sheikh. Sheikh managed to score 26 runs in 38 balls. After that Haris Sompali caught  Rizwan. He managed to score 28 runs in 46 balls. Then the magic of Shadab Khan’s spine was seen. He completed Nepal’s lower order, taking four wickets. Gulshan Jha was dismissed for 13 runs, Dipendra Singh for three runs, Kushal Malla for six runs while Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi did not even open an account. Shadab grabbed four spots for Pakistan.  Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf got two wickets each. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz got one wicket each.
