Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 series is still months away from launch, but early reports are already hinting at one of its biggest hardware upgrades. The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are rumored to feature larger batteries than previous models, with Samsung reportedly preparing to introduce silicon-carbon battery technology to its flagship Galaxy S lineup.
The new battery technology could help extend battery life while keeping the phones slim and lightweight.
Galaxy S27 Pro Battery Capacity Leaked
According to the latest industry leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro could be equipped with a 5,087mAh rated battery, which is expected to be advertised as a 5,200mAh typical capacity.
If the information is accurate, the Pro model will receive a small battery boost over earlier rumors that suggested a standard 5,000mAh unit.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Pack Samsung’s Biggest Flagship Battery Yet
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also tipped for a major battery upgrade. Reports claim it may feature a 5,534mAh rated battery, with Samsung potentially marketing it as either 5,700mAh or 5,800mAh.
That would be a noticeable improvement over the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which launched with a 5,000mAh battery.
While battery capacity may increase, there is no confirmation yet on whether Samsung will upgrade charging speeds beyond the current wired and wireless standards.
Silicon-Carbon Batteries Explained
The rumored increase in battery size is believed to be made possible by silicon-carbon (Si-C) battery technology.
Compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries, silicon-carbon cells can store more energy in the same amount of space. This allows smartphone manufacturers to increase battery capacity without making devices thicker or heavier.
Several Android smartphone brands have already adopted the technology, and Samsung now appears ready to bring it to its premium Galaxy S smartphones.
Expected Performance
Leaks also suggest Samsung will continue using different processors depending on the market.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to feature the Exynos 2700 in select regions, while some markets could receive a Snapdragon-powered version.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is rumored to launch globally with Samsung’s customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 for Galaxy chipset, promising flagship-level performance.

The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to replace the traditional “Plus” model, offering premium hardware in a more compact form factor. Reports indicate it may include flagship cameras and top-tier performance while skipping S Pen support to maintain a slimmer design.
