The mother of a 15-year-old girl who recently went viral for using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed gratitude after the Prime Minister publicly chose forgiveness over retaliation.
Calling the gesture a “new beginning” for her daughter, the mother said PM Modi’s response had given the teenager another opportunity to learn from her mistake.
“He Gave My Daughter a New Life”
Speaking to the media, the girl’s mother thanked the Prime Minister for showing compassion despite the offensive remarks made in the viral video.
She said the decision was especially meaningful as it came on her daughter’s birthday, describing it as the biggest gift her family could have received.
According to her, instead of responding with anger, the Prime Minister chose forgiveness, which she believes has allowed her daughter to start afresh.
PM Modi Appeals for Calm
The controversy began after videos circulated online showing abusive slogans directed at the Prime Minister during a student protest over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
Responding to the incident through a social media video, PM Modi urged people not to react with hatred or revenge. He described those involved as “misguided” and emphasized that anger should not be the answer.
His message quickly drew attention across social media, with many praising the appeal for restraint.
Teen Issues Public Apology
Soon after the Prime Minister’s remarks, the teenager released a video apologizing for her actions.
She admitted that her words were unacceptable and said she deeply regretted what had happened. The girl explained that she had attended the protest with friends and was influenced by the atmosphere and slogans being raised around her.
Describing it as the biggest mistake of her life, she apologised to the nation and appealed for forgiveness.
FIR Registered Before Apology
Before the apology video surfaced, a complaint had already been filed regarding the incident. Police initially registered a Zero FIR in Noida, which was later transferred to Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi for further investigation.
The complaint alleged that the slogans were derogatory and could potentially disturb public order.
The girl’s family has requested that the legal proceedings be reconsidered, arguing that she is a minor and deserves an opportunity to correct her mistake.
Mother Raises Concern Over Minors on Social Media
During her appeal, the girl’s mother also expressed concern over children using social media platforms without proper supervision.
She urged authorities to consider stricter rules for minors on social media and said children should focus on education instead of becoming involved in political protests.
According to her, young people can easily be influenced by others without fully understanding the consequences of their actions.
Political Reactions Continue
The incident has also sparked political debate. Some opposition voices questioned whether forgiveness expressed publicly should also be reflected in legal proceedings, while others argued that the matter should be handled according to the law.
As the case continues, the episode has generated wider discussion on the responsibilities of social media users, the participation of minors in protests, and the balance between accountability and forgiveness.
