Toxic Box Office: Yash Film Opens Strong With Rs 101 Crore in India

Yash’s latest release Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has made a strong impact at the box office. The action drama, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has reportedly earned around Rs 101 crore nett in India on its opening day.

The film has also registered an estimated Rs 140 crore gross worldwide, giving it one of the biggest openings for an Indian film this year.

Hindi Version Drives Domestic Earnings

While Toxic was expected to perform strongly in the Kannada market, its Hindi version turned out to be the biggest contributor on Day 1.

Early trade estimates suggest that the Hindi version collected around Rs 55 crore nett. The Kannada version followed with approximately Rs 25 crore, while the Telugu-dubbed release added close to Rs 11 crore.

The numbers indicate that the film has attracted audiences well beyond its original Kannada market.

Toxic Just Misses Dhurandhar 2

Despite crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in India, Toxic could not take the top spot for the biggest domestic opening of 2026.

The film’s estimated Rs 101 crore nett opening puts it just behind Dhurandhar 2, which reportedly started its theatrical run with around Rs 103 crore nett in India.

The worldwide gap is much wider, with Dhurandhar 2 recording an estimated Rs 205 crore gross on Day 1 compared with Toxic‘s Rs 140 crore.

Yash Scores Another Major Kannada Cinema Record

The opening has nevertheless given Toxic an important place in Kannada cinema.

With an estimated Rs 140 crore worldwide on its first day, the movie has registered the second-highest worldwide opening for a Kannada film. The record is still held by Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, which opened with approximately Rs 164 crore globally.

This is another strong indication of Yash’s pan-India appeal following the success of the KGF franchise.

Beats Several Big Bollywood Openers

Toxic has also put up a Day 1 worldwide number higher than several major Hindi releases.

For comparison, Pathaan opened at around Rs 104 crore worldwide, while Animal recorded approximately Rs 116 crore. Adipurush earned around Rs 127 crore and Jawan collected nearly Rs 129 crore on their respective opening days.

With an estimated Rs 140 crore worldwide gross, Toxic has moved ahead of all four in this particular comparison.

What Comes Next for Toxic?

The film’s international earnings were comparatively modest, with overseas collections estimated at just over US$2 million on Day 1. The domestic market, especially the Hindi belt, therefore played a significant role in the opening.

Toxic features Yash in the lead, with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in important roles.

The opening has given the film a solid start, but its performance over the weekend and during the first week will determine whether it can maintain its momentum at the box office.
