The next generation of the Dravid family is making its mark in Indian cricket. Anvay Dravid, the younger son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, has secured a place in the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.
The Junior Cricket Selection Committee announced the squad for the youth tour, which will feature three One-Day matches followed by two multi-day games. The series is scheduled to get underway in Hambantota on July 4.
Anvay has been selected as one of the wicketkeeper-batters in the ODI squad after delivering strong performances in domestic age-group competitions. The 17-year-old has steadily progressed through the ranks and now has an opportunity to represent India at the youth international level.
Consistent Displays Catch Selectors’ Attention
The young cricketer has impressed with both his leadership and batting abilities over the past year. While representing Karnataka in youth cricket, Anvay played several impactful innings and emerged as a dependable performer in the middle order.
His performances in recent tournaments helped strengthen his case for national selection. Known for his calm approach at the crease, he has shown the ability to anchor innings and guide his team in pressure situations.
The call-up marks a major milestone in his cricketing journey and provides him with a platform to showcase his talent on the international stage.
Key Tour for Future India Prospects
The Sri Lanka assignment is expected to play an important role in shaping India’s future Under-19 setup. With another U-19 World Cup cycle approaching in the coming years, selectors are keen to identify and develop young players capable of representing the country at the highest youth level.
Anvay’s inclusion reflects the confidence selectors have in his potential. Given his age, he remains eligible for future youth tournaments, making this tour a valuable opportunity for long-term development.
