Mumbai: Ranveer Singh has commenced filming for his upcoming movie Pralay, an ambitious action thriller that has now entered production in Mumbai. The film brings together Singh and Kalyani Priyadarshan, adding fresh excitement to the project.
Backed by Birla Studios, True Story Films and Maa Kasam Films, Pralay is being developed as a large-scale theatrical entertainer. Ranveer Singh will play the lead and is also part of the film’s production team.
Pralay Set Against an Apocalyptic Crisis
The makers have not disclosed the complete plot yet, but Pralay is centred around an extreme crisis that puts survival at stake. The story is expected to explore how people respond when Mumbai is pushed towards an end-of-the-world situation.
To maintain a realistic look, the production is using live locations in Mumbai and surrounding areas. The team had reportedly spent considerable time in technical preparation before beginning the principal photography.
Kalyani Priyadarshan Comes On Board
Kalyani Priyadarshan is another major addition to the cast. The actor, who recently attracted attention following her appearance in Lokah, will share screen space with Ranveer Singh in the upcoming film.
The project is being directed by Jai Mehta, known for his work on Lootere and for co-directing the acclaimed series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story with Hansal Mehta.
Ranveer’s Next Big Project After Dhurandhar
Pralay comes after Ranveer Singh’s recent run with the Dhurandhar franchise. Both Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge performed strongly at the box office, establishing the two-part action series as a major theatrical success.
Aditya Dhar directed the franchise, with Ranveer leading a cast that included Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal.
With filming for Pralay now underway, expectations are high for another action-packed theatrical spectacle from Ranveer Singh. More details about the film’s characters, release date and storyline are expected to be revealed by the makers in the coming months.
