Dehradun, August 9, 2026: India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a public appeal to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, seeking assistance in finding and purchasing land in his home State.
Pant took to X on Saturday to explain that he wants to shift his base from Delhi to Uttarakhand and build his first house in the State where he has his roots.
The 28-year-old cricketer said he had been searching for suitable land for around three years but had not been able to find a property that met his requirements.
Pant Wants to Return to His Roots
In two posts directed at Chief Minister Dhami, Pant said he wanted to move back to Uttarakhand and contribute to the development of the State.
The cricketer expressed his affection for Uttarakhand and said he wanted to reconnect with the people and culture of his native region.
Pant also mentioned that he had previously been associated with efforts to promote Uttarakhand and was waiting for land that he said had been promised to him during that period.
Rather than seeking the land as a complimentary allotment, Pant clarified that he would prefer to purchase it from the State Government at the applicable government rate.
‘I Want to Buy It From the Government’
Pant said receiving land as a gift would certainly be appreciated, particularly considering his representation of the country at the international level.
However, he made it clear that his preference was to purchase the property himself and build his first home in Uttarakhand.
He also admitted that he was unsure about the procedure involved in acquiring government land and sought guidance on how he could proceed.
Pushkar Singh Dhami Responds
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami responded to Pant’s appeal on X.
Dhami described Pant as a source of pride for Uttarakhand and praised the cricketer for bringing recognition to the State through his performances at the national and international levels.
The Chief Minister also welcomed Pant’s desire to return to his home State and contribute to its development.
Dhami said officials had been instructed to contact Pant and provide all possible assistance, subject to the applicable rules and regulations.
Pant Continues to Represent India in Test Cricket
Pant, who has strong roots in Uttarakhand, currently plays domestic cricket for Delhi and remains an important part of India’s Test team.
He is presently with the India A squad in Colombo, where the side is playing a three-day unofficial Test against Sri Lanka Cricket XI.
The match is part of India’s preparations for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. The first Test is scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15.
Pant’s appeal has drawn attention not only because of his high-profile status but also because of his stated desire to make Uttarakhand his long-term home and contribute to his native State.
