India captain Shreyas Iyer admitted his side has several areas to improve after England wrapped up the T20I series with a convincing win in Bristol, but maintained that the experience would help the squad grow ahead of future international assignments.
The hosts claimed an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match contest after comfortably chasing India’s target, leaving the visitors searching for answers following another inconsistent performance.
India Captain Points to Learning Curve
Addressing the media after the defeat, Shreyas Iyer said the current group is still adjusting to the demands of playing in overseas conditions.
According to the skipper, several young cricketers are gaining valuable exposure at the highest level, and such experiences are essential for their long-term development. He added that setbacks often provide the biggest lessons, provided the team responds positively.
Iyer expressed confidence that the players would review their performances, identify mistakes and return stronger in future matches.
Fighting Innings Not Enough
The India captain produced one of his best knocks of the series, remaining unbeaten to anchor the innings after wickets fell regularly around him.
Despite his personal contribution, Iyer admitted there was little satisfaction because the team could not post a competitive score. He stressed that individual performances only become meaningful when they help India secure victories.
