India has secured two nominations at the 54th International Emmy Awards 2026, with comedian and actor Vir Das receiving his third nomination at the prestigious global television awards. SonyLIV’s drama series Real Kashmir Football Club has also earned a nomination in the Drama Series category.
The nominations were announced on Wednesday, with the winners scheduled to be revealed at a ceremony in New York City on November 23, 2026.
Vir Das Nominated for Comedy
Vir Das has been nominated in the Comedy category for his Netflix stand-up special Vir Das: Fool Volume.
The special is competing against Division Palermo Season 2, Man vs Baby and Old Dog, New Tricks.
Sharing the news with his followers on Instagram, Das celebrated the nomination and described it as his third International Emmy recognition for India.
The latest nomination adds another milestone to Das’ growing international career.
Vir Das’ International Emmy Journey
This is not Vir Das’ first appearance at the International Emmy Awards.
The comedian previously received a nomination in the Best Comedy category in 2021 for his special Vir Das: For India.
He went on to win the International Emmy for Best Comedy in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing. The award was shared with the third season of the British comedy series Derry Girls.
In another significant achievement, Das became the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards ceremony in 2024.
His latest special, Vir Das: Fool Volume, premiered on Netflix on July 18, 2025. The performance was filmed across several international locations, including Mumbai, New York and London.
Real Kashmir Football Club Gets Drama Series Nomination
The Indian web series Real Kashmir Football Club has been nominated in the International Emmy’s Drama Series category.
The show stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and is based on the real-life story of Real Kashmir FC, a professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir.
The series is competing against A Thousand Blows, Careme and Menem.
Actor Manav Kaul celebrated the nomination on social media, congratulating the entire team behind the series.
Real Kashmir Football Club: Story and Release
Real Kashmir Football Club premiered on SonyLIV in December 2025.
The series was directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai and draws inspiration from the journey of Real Kashmir FC, which became the first professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir.
The show combines football with the social and personal challenges surrounding the club’s rise, bringing the team’s real-world story to a wider audience.
