Miss Universe India Finalist Returns to Google Job Days After Pageant

Bengaluru: Life has quickly returned to normal for Umanga Kumawat after her appearance at the Miss Universe India 2026 finale. Just weeks after taking the pageant stage, the engineer was back at her regular workplace — the Google campus in Bengaluru.

Umanga represented Madhya Pradesh at the national pageant and secured a place in the Top 20 among 52 finalists. Kerala’s Kaziah Liz Mejia went on to win the Miss Universe India 2026 title at the August 23 finale in Jaipur.

Rather than stepping away from her technology career after the competition, Umanga has returned to her role as a Google Cloud engineer, giving her followers a glimpse of her everyday routine.

Umanga shares a glimpse of her life after the pageant

On September 14, Umanga posted a short “day in my life” video showing what a typical workday looks like for her at Google’s Bengaluru office.

The roughly one-minute video moves through several parts of her day, from getting ready for work and exercising to meetings, lunch, coffee and finally heading home.

Her morning starts at around 9:30 am, with the familiar question of what to wear. She opts for a black top and bright red trousers before preparing her laptop bag and other essentials for the day.

By approximately 10:30 am, she is at the campus wellness centre for a workout.

From gym session to Google workday

Umanga’s workout includes time on the treadmill, stretching and leg exercises. After finishing her fitness routine, she gets ready to begin her professional day.

By 12:30 pm, the pageant finalist has switched completely into work mode, with her laptop, notebook and documents on her desk.

Her routine offers a contrast to the glamour associated with beauty pageants, showing the more ordinary side of life after the competition.

What does Umanga eat at Google’s Bengaluru campus?

Lunch arrives at around 2:10 pm.

The Google cafeteria offers several choices, including biryani, fruit and dessert. Umanga, however, chooses a lighter meal consisting of noodle soup and greens.

She returns to her desk at around 3 pm and continues with her work.

Later in the afternoon, she moves to a quieter lounge area with large windows overlooking the campus. Around 5:30 pm, she takes a coffee break before eventually making her way towards the elevator at the end of the working day.

Balancing technology and pageantry

Umanga’s journey stands out because her pageant experience has not replaced her professional career.

While contestants from beauty pageants often move towards modelling, entertainment or other public-facing professions, Umanga continues to pursue her career in technology while also exploring interests outside her workplace.

Her post-pageant routine has also resonated with people who see the video as a reminder that a major competition can be one part of someone’s life rather than a complete career change.

For Umanga, the spotlight of the Miss Universe India stage has been followed by something much more familiar — a laptop, a workout, office meetings and a regular day at Google.
