David Warner and Steve Smith to retire after the Ashes?

Must Read

With a shocking admission, former England captain Michael Vaughan has made headlines. He mentioned hearing rumours that Steve Smith and David Warner would retire from Test cricket following the upcoming game at the Oval.

Steve Smith achieved his 32nd Test century during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground on June 29, 2023, tying the mark set by former Australian captain Steve Waugh for the most hundreds by an Australian player in Test matches. His century was also his 12th century in the Ashes series; Don Bradman holds the record with 19 centuries against England. Jack Hobbs and he are tied for the second-most hundreds in this legendary contest.

Throughout the current Ashes series in England, David Warner’s performance has been patchy. Although he performed admirably at Lord’s, his appearances in Leeds and Manchester were far from stellar. Warner has already declared his intention to retire in the coming year, and many believe that this could be the case.
